“In 2010 Fisher-Price Disney’s Dance Star Mickey Dance Star Mickey was one of the “Must-Have Toys” of the Christmas season. Dance Star Mickey was fun, hip, and had a wide assortment of dance moves. In 2011 Fisher-Price has tried to recapture the magic with “Rock Star Mickey”, and depending on child they may have another big hit on their fan.
I do believe that Rock Star Mickey has a smaller audience than last year’s model. For one, while most kids love to dance not all kids are big fans of the Rock Star theme. This is especially true for younger kids (specifically my 2 year old daughter). Our daughter enjoys Dance Star Mickey, although he is not one of her absolute favorites, but she is less excited about his rockin’ cousin.
Notes on Rock Star
- He is a about 4 inches shorter than Dance Star Mickey, but he is also less expensive
- Rock Star Mickey only plays 2 songs, and they do get old
- No volume control
- He does come with batteries
- Packaging was surprisingly easy to open.
- Mickey’s voice does not sound quite right, it is a little more squeeky and metallic.
Final Verdict – Rock Star Mickey is likely to garner smiles from your favorite boy or girl, however if I was given a choice our family would stick with Dance Str Mickey. If you have a future rocker…. I could easily see your choice being the opposite.”
